A. PURPOSE OF THE COURSE
One of the important instructions given to Moses by God is found in two places - Det. 6:5-9 “And these words which I command you today shall be in your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates” and again in Det. 11:18-21, “Therefore you shall lay up these words of mine in your heart and in your soul, and bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall teach them to your children, speaking of them when you sit in your house, when you walk by the way, when you lie down, and when you rise up. And you shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates, that your days and the days of your children may be multiplied in the land of which the Lord swore to your fathers to give them, like the days of the heavens above the earth.” It is very clear from those passages that teaching the child is a clear instruction from God Himself! The wise-man Solomon emphasizes the same fact in a different way: “train a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not turn from it” (Prov. 22:6).
Teaching and training our children is a Godly responsibility. Besides impressing upon our children that the Scriptures are “God-breathed”, we need help them study the Word and to follow the example of the Bereans who “examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true” (Acts 17:11), and to test all things taught against the Word of God whatever the source may be – “Test all things; hold fast what is good” (1 Thes. 5:21). Only this kind of education will strengthen their Biblical Worldview.
The Emet Education & Leadership program is exactly based on this type of education and our main purpose is to help each student develop and strengthen that Biblical Worldview. Just as a command is given to parents to nurture their children in the Lord (Ephesians 6:4), we at Emet in the same spirit nurture every student and as the Greek word paideia, translated “nurture” in the KJV, carries with it the idea of training, education, instruction and discipline, we inculcate the values behind each aspect of education, instruction and discipline and produce lofty-thinking leaders!
The methods used above not only imparts a sound education to every student but also enables the student develop his transformational-leadership skills. Our ultimate aim is to develop each student as Paul outlines in 1 Tim. 4:12 “Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.” The Emet tutelage is something that you will not find at any other Bible college or institution. We have carefully designed and developed our program that “the man of God may be complete, thoroughly equipped for every good work” (2 Tim. 3:17).
